Inspired by the Japanese word awa, meaning a bubble of air trapped in liquid, the Awa Medium Pendant Lamp, designed by Fumie Shibata for Brokis, transforms glass into a suspended sphere of light. Crafted to evoke a soft, inflated form, the design combines hand-blown glass with wood or metal “stopper” elements that hold the bubble in place. Whether in transparent, smoke or frosted glass, the pendant appears to float in space, imbuing interiors with quiet elegance and poetic light. With its refined materiality and breadth of finishes, it stands as both sculpture and luminaire.
